Western Canada Marine Response Corporation (WCMRC) is a Transport Canada certified Response Organization, whose mandate is to ensure there is a state of preparedness in place and to mitigate the impact when an oil spill occurs. This includes the protection of wildlife, economic and environmental sensitivities, and the safety of both the responders and the public.
WCMRC is recruiting for a Temporary Full Time Project Manager to join the Corporate Projects team, located at our corporate office in Burnaby, B.C. This is a one-year contract position, with potential for renewal based on continuing business needs.
The Project Manager will be responsible for the entire project lifecycle including developing plans, assigning individual responsibilities, identifying appropriate resources needed, and developing schedules to ensure timely completion. This role will select and follow project management methods, procedures and quality objectives, establish metrics for assessing progress and conduct post-project evaluations. This role will also assess variances from project plans, budgets, schedules and develop, implement and document required changes to ensure projects remain within time, cost and quality objectives, and ensure communication to project teams, project sponsor and other stakeholders.
To be successful in this role you will have completed a post-secondary degree or diploma and bring a minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in project management. We are looking for previous experience managing IT/communications/technology projects. We are also looking for previous experience with maintenance management/projects. Completion of a recognized project management designation, such as PMP, is preferred. You will be a collaborative team player with strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills, and be able to deal with all levels of employees and management in a manner that elicits cooperation and support. In addition, excellent problem solving and analytical skills, are a must have.
