Western Canada Marine Response Corporation (WCMRC) is a Transport Canada certified Response Organization, whose mandate is to ensure there is a state of preparedness in place and to mitigate the impact when an oil spill occurs. This includes the protection of wildlife, economic and environmental sensitivities, and the safety of both the responders and the public.
WCMRC is recruiting for an Accounting Manager to join our Finance team, located at our corporate office in Burnaby, B.C.
Reporting to the Director, Finance & Business Support, this position is responsible for all areas relating to financial reporting and budget preparation as well as developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements and monthly variance reports. You will manage the accounting team to ensure that work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner. In addition, you will take responsibility for accounting activities including general ledger preparation, financial reporting, year-end audit preparation and the support of budget and forecast activities, and collection and accuracy of data pertaining to response incidents, ensuring paperwork is acceptable for billing and invoicing clients.
To be successful in this role you will bring a minimum of three to five years of previous experience in an accounting environment managing a team, along with a completion of a post-secondary degree or diploma, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. CPA, (CA or CGA) designation is a requirement. Excellent analytical skills and demonstrated experience in the areas of financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting is a must have. In addition, you will need to be a collaborative team player, with excellent verbal and written communications skills and be able to coordinate and interact with multiple people and projects. Strong computer skills, including proficiency with MS Office applications and experience with Dynamic Navision accounting software, SharePoint, and MS CRM, is preferred.
