New Directors Named to Port Metro Vancouver

The Honourable Lawrence Cannon, Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities, today announced the appointments of Ms. Anne Bancroft-Jones and Ms. Pat Jacobsen as directors of the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority for a term of three years each.

Ms. Bancroft-Jones earned a master of science degree in business administration and a bachelor of commerce, both in urban land economics, from the University of British Columbia. She is a member of the Canadian Institute of Planners and has a certificate in leadership in energy and environmental design (LEED). She began her career as a commercial appraiser for Cumberland Realty Group Ltd., later working as a real estate consultant in Vancouver. From 1986 to 2001, she held several positions with the City of Vancouver, including senior development officer, manager of real estate, assistant major projects negotiator and project manager. She subsequently worked for Polygon Homes Ltd. as vice-president of special projects and senior vice-president of development. Since 2005, she has been senior vice-president of development with Delta Land Development Ltd.

Ms. Jacobsen, who holds a bachelor of arts from the University of Manitoba, was the chief executive officer of the Greater Vancouver Transportation Authority (Translink) from 2001 to spring 2008, overseeing the planning, financing, building and operations of the region's road, passenger marine and transit services. Prior to joining Translink, she was president and CEO of the Workers Compensation Board of Manitoba. In the 1990s, she served as senior vice-president for two Toronto financial institutions. From 1969 to 1992, she held senior positions in the Ontario provincial government, including deputy minister of transportation. Ms. Jacobsen was recently appointed a western director on the board of Air Canada, is the incoming chair of the BC Cancer Foundation and is a former member of the executive committee of the Greater Vancouver Gateway Council to promote port growth.  View Full News Release.
