Asian Gypsy Moth Inspection Fees
Tuesday, 19 August 2008 00:00
As a result of the increased number of inspections for Asian Gypsy Moths, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency is amending its fee structure. CFIA has the authority to replace the prescribed $500 inspection fee with an hourly rate when the cost of the inspections exceeds the prescribed fee.
Effectively immediately CFIA is applying the hourly rate for inspections of vessels in
Vessels deemed compliant with the appropriate certificates are still subject to random inspections and will continue to be invoiced the prescribed fee of $500 per inspection.
It was further clarified that there are three scenarios for invoicing once CFIA inspectors are booked to do the AGM inspection at Constance Bank:
1) Agents have until 16:00 the day before the inspectors are to leave for Constance Bank to fax the certificates and there will be no additional fees.
2) Agents then have until 22:30 the day before the inspectors are to leave for Constance Bank to fax the certificates and leave a message at 604-666-3837 for the on call ship inspectors. There will be overtime fees for the inspector to verify documents.
3) Once the inspectors are already dispatched the inspection will proceed and will follow the fee structure as outlined.
