The Province of BC has appointed Cynthia Dick to the Port Alberni Port Authority Board of Directors. This appointment of a three-year term took effect October 24, 2018. Ms. Dick is the Chief Councillor of the Tseshaht First Nation since her appointment to that role in 2016. She brings her vision to continue the work of creating a brighter future for the community and future generations. Ms. Dick believes that through more community engagement she will be able to work towards common goals and visions on behalf of Tseshaht people. As the proud mother of a young daughter she holds value in creating a better place for future generations as her highest motivation.
The Port's Advisory Nominating Committee is now accepting nominations for the Board position in the user group category. The Canada Marine Act section 16(e) precludes an individual who is a director, office or employee of a person who is a user of the port. The Director appointment approach supports an open, transparent, and merit-based selection process – one that will result in the recommendation of high-quality candidates who achieve gender parity and truly reflect Canada’s diversity. Nominations will be received until 4:00 PM, December 31, 2018. For more information call tel: (250) 723-5312 or visit www.alberniport.ca.
